As you can see the What's New page is divided into 3 sections:

RECENT CLASSMATE MESSAGES

When you or a classmate posts a message on the top of the What's New page as seen in Gwen's video, the message is added to the "Recent Classmate Messages" section right here on the What's New page itself for all classmates to see. Your message is also added to the top of your classmate profile. Similarly, if you post a message to classmates from the top of your own edit Profile page, the message is posted to the top of the What's New page as well. In other words, the message box on the top of the What's New page, and the message box on the top of your Edit Profile page, are one in the same. Posting in either box will cause your message to appear both on top of your Profile, and on top of the What's New page.

FOLLOWING

Postings from Classmates you are following under Notify Me appear here. It's an easy way to see at a glance what the classmates you are most interested in are doing around the site.

NOT FOLLOWING

Postings from Classmates you are not following under Notify Me appear here. Although you've chosen not to follow these classmates, their posts may still be of interest to you.

Security note: If you have restricted your Profile to only classmates, or only classmates from your high school, note that the public when using the "Visit Another Class" feature will NOT be able to see any of your postings on the What's New page. Only profiles permitted to the public will have content replicated on the What's New page and visible to non classmates. i.e. the exact same security settings on the bottom of your Edit Profile page are honored here, just like they are on the class web site.

The What's New page is a standard part of the Class Connection Facebook application, but will be optional on your own private class web site. This will be a great new way of staying up to date with your classmates all on one page!

As you can see, the app is just another place to do the same things you already do now - literally in the exact same way. The app allows your Facebook classmates to participate with your class from an environment they're already comfortable and familiar with.

Many of you have asked this: "Do I need to use Facebook myself in order to open up Facebook access to classmates?" It's a great question. The answer is no. If you choose to allow your site to be accessed from Class Connection, there is no requirement for you personally to log into Facebook at all. Anything your Facebook classmates do will be seen on your private web site just as if they were using your private web site itself.

Bottom line: It makes no difference if you and your classmates participate from your own private class web site, from the Facebook app, or both. Your class data is your class data and it does not change based on the environment.

I hope this sheds some light on the subject of synchronization. If you and your classmates are already comfortable using your class web site, you'll feel right at home using the Class Connection application.

1. You must have a Facebook Account to use the APP. If you do not have a Facebook account go to www.facebook.com and create your account. The APP will then be available to you: see "HOW TO JOIN FACEBOOK VIDEO" At this time these are all the videos available.

2. There are questions about how the Class Connection Facebook app syncs with the class web site. As you use the two systems you'll see they're really one in the same -- the same data is simply being shared in two different environments.

It makes no difference if our classmates participate from our own private class web site, from the Facebook app, or both. Our class data is your class data and it does not change based on the environment.

FACEBOOK USERS

News today for our classmates on Facebook! You can now do all of the things you can do on our class web site from inside Facebook. It's called Class Connection, and you'll find it's very simple to join and use. Follow these 3 quick steps to get connected:

1. Log into our class web site at www.slp62.com .
2. Click the "Class Connection" link under Member Functions.
3. On the Class Connection Join Screen click the blue "Join Class" button and accept the app permissions.

That's it - you're Facebook connected!

There are some exciting new features available here such as the ability to send your Notify Me notices to the Facebook notification globe. You can use the Easy Invite tool to help us find missing classmates and invite them to join our class. Class Connection also provides a Visit Another Class feature that allows you to browse around other classes.

Here's a few important things you should know:

• Everything you do on Class Connection is mirrored on our class web site. Everything you do on our class web site is mirrored on Class Connection. I.E. they work as one. Class Connection is just a convenient method of participating with our class from the Facebook environment.

• Your Profile privacy settings are honored on Class Connection. Only the people who you're already permitted to view your Profile are the same people who can view your Profile using Class Connection. Click Edit Profile if you wish to review your privacy settings.
