Carole Joy (Hiller) Hammond

December 14, 1944 ~ October 5, 2021 (age 76)

Carole Joy Hammond was born on December 14, 1944 to Wellington and Joyce (Anderson) Hiller in Braham, MN. She grew up in South Minneapolis until junior high when her family moved to St. Louis Park. Carole attended and graduated from St. Louis Park High School in 1962 and continued her education at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. During her schooling she worked as a buyer for Donaldson’s in downtown Minneapolis. On September 25, 1965, Carole was united in marriage to Michael Hammond. The couple moved to Edina, where Carole worked for Conner Company. Over the next few years, the couple lived in Rochester, Minnetonka and Eagan where Carole was a stay-at-home mom. While spending time at home with her boys, Carole also enjoyed volunteering at the boy’s schools and teaching Sunday school at Peace Church. In 1977 the family bought a cabin on Lake Carlos where they spent many summers. During this time, Carole also worked for Burnett Title Company as an abstractor.  In 1998 Mike and Carole built their dream home on Lake Carlos. She continued her abstracting work at Alexandria Title for 9 years before retiring.

Carole enjoyed spending her time gardening, hosting friends and family at her home, playing pickleball, vacationing in Marco Island, FL, and watching the wildlife in her backyard. Carole’s most treasured memories are those spent with her husband Mike, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and grand dogs. Carole was a very special person and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Carole and I enjoyed so many parties together in high school. I will miss my times spent with Carole as adults. She and Mike were so much fun to be around. Carole had the best laugh and I will remember it always.
